Consensus of social partners reached: new collective agreement on hospitality concluded

first_imgIn the tourism sector, the social partners reached an agreement even after six months of negotiations concluded a new Collective Agreement of the hospitality industry, whose signatories are the HUP Association of Hospitality and Tourism and the Trade Union of Tourism and Services of Croatia and the Trade Union of Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia.New collective bargaining agreement as such retains the same level of rights and obligations for workers and entrepreneurs in this sector, and as the greatest novelty it brings significant increases in the lowest basic salaries for all typical catering occupations which take effect from April 2018.Given the different intensity of business and the specifics of the daily and weekly schedule of working hours for caterers, it is especially important to maintain the possibility of using redistribution for a maximum of 60 hours per week and a reduced daily rest of 8 hours. Salaries increased by 10% that is, new amounts of the lowest gross basic salary for typical jobs in the hospitality industry have been agreed in the amount of HRK 4.700,00 for jobs waiters, chefs, pastry chefs, receptionists… The stated amount represents the minimum basic salary on which allowances for night work, work on Sundays and holidays and overtime work are additionally calculated according to the amounts defined by the collective agreement. On the occasion of concluding a new Collective Agreement on Hospitality, the President of HUP Association of Hospitality and Tourism, Željko Kukurin stated: “Human resources are the biggest challenge for the further development of tourism. On the one hand, tourism is currently the most desirable and promising sector in Croatia in terms of job opportunities and career development opportunities. On the other hand, we still have a lot of work to do to create competitive conditions in relation to the surrounding countries. I am glad that we have reached a consensus with the branch unions because they are an important partner for us in creating such conditions. The new branch collective agreement ensures the continuity of the regulation of labor relations and the minimum rights and obligations of workers and employers in the hospitality industry, and continuously improves working conditions.”Social dialogue and regulation of labor relations by a branch collective agreement in the hospitality industry is one of the most successful examples of cooperation between social partners at the sectoral level, and as such has a long tradition and a high level of mutual respect and relations. The first branch collective agreement of the hospitality industry was signed in May 2002, followed by its two amendments and the Collective Agreement of the hospitality industry from 2015, and as such were extended to the entire hospitality sector. “In addition to the long-term validity and contracting of the national collective agreement of catering, tourism also marks a significant share of domestic collective agreements in relation to other activities. He said on this occasion Bruno Bulić, President of the Trade Union of Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia.Given the importance of the hospitality sector for the Croatian economy and society, and the importance of quality employment for the competitiveness of Croatian tourism, the social partners in tourism consider it necessary and justified to continue the current practice and extend the application of the Collective Agreement to the entire hospitality industry. protection of the rights of all workers and harmonization of business conditions for all entrepreneurs in the hospitality sector.Eduard Andrić, president of the Trade Union of Tourism and Services, is on that track concluded: “Only with higher wages and better working conditions can we stop the emigration of our workers and make young people interested in education in tourism. The collective agreement of the hospitality industry is also important for combating unfair competition, the gray economy and undeclared work, which is in the common interest of us unions and our partners in HUP. We also expect the support of the state, ie that the relevant Ministry of Labor will support our efforts by expanding the application of the collective agreement to all caterers in Croatia and ensure a stable business environment.” Collective bargaining in the tourism sector is conducted every year to improve efficiency and labor standards, improve the position of workers, prevent further outflow of workers and motivate quality professionals for employment in tourism in the Republic of Croatia, as a common interest of employers and workers. The quality of employment arrangements has a direct impact on human resource management and the competitiveness of the workforce, ie the competitiveness of Croatian tourism. Therefore, the regulation of labor rights and obligations through the branch collective agreement is one of the tools in the function of improving working conditions, ie a direct impact on the quality of service and competitiveness and further development of Croatian tourism.script src=”https://bs.serving-sys.com/BurstingPipe/adServer.bs?cn=rsb&c=28&pli=24629406&PluID=0&w=1280&h=500&ord=[timestamp]&ucm=true”></p>
