Dickens Downtown has been around since 1994 and tomorrow it’s going to continue the tradition of kicking off the Christmas Holidays in Northport.Dickens Downtown is hosting its 24th annual Christmas celebration and business owners are looking forward to the Victorian-style celebration. Business owners Richard Anders, owner of Anders Hardware, said the celebration gives businesses an opportunity to do something special for their customers.“It’s a way for the merchants of downtown northport to stay open later and provide a Christmas open house for families,” Anders said.Kate Strickland, the owner of the Toy Shoppe, said the celebration is unique and something that everyone can enjoy.“Since it’s Victorian, instead of the more commercialized Christmas it has different things for kids to experience,” Strickland said.Your forecast may predict a day of sun, but Dickens Downtown promises that you’ll see snow on their streets. Many business owners said that Dickens Downtown is a great way to start your holiday season, have some cider, find sales and deals at local businesses and enjoy the town with friends and family.“You’ll probably see some sales,” Anders said. “You’ll probably see some hot cider, and cookies and things like that and little bands and things inside the store, so it’s a fun event.”Strickland said they will announce sales for the Toy Shoppe on their Facebook or Instagram and Anders said they are keeping their deals a surprise for the event. Dickens Downtown will take place on Dec. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m.
