That should change in 2020.According to AL.com, Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III got his 40-time clocked at the school’s Junior Pro Day. Per the report, Ruggs ran a blazing 4.25 40-yard dash.Such a mark is only a sliver behind the all-time record held by Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross. At the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine, Ross clocked in with a 4.22 40-time.The mark for Ruggs may be stunning to those who don’t know him, but even in high school he had a sterling reputation as a speedster.Back in high school, Ruggs set a Class 7A 100-meter dash record, winning the race in just 10.58 seconds.Yesterday was further proof that Alabama junior wide receiver Henry Ruggs is really, really fast.Have been told that NFL scouts timed him in the 4.25 range in the 40-yard dash at Alabama’s pro day yesterday.https://t.co/VPVu2KUNHn— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) March 7, 2019Ruggs has demonstrated his blazing speed on the field as well.As a freshman, he caught only 12 passes but averaged over 19 yards per catch with six of them going for touchdowns.Last year, Ruggs’ production spiked as he caught 46 passes for 741 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a prospect in the Class of 2017, Ruggs was rated the No. 75 overall prospect in the country, the No. 11 wide receiver in the country, and the No. 2 prospect from the state of Alabama by 247Sports.last_img read more
